Roman Gottardi, MD, MBA, FEBCTS

Dr. Gottardi brings 10+ years of experience as Board certified Cardiac Surgeon with a main interest in open and endovascular aortic therapies. He has published over 55 scientific papers, mainly on aortic disease and therapies. 

Dr. Gottardi was co-founder of TEVAR ltd, a start-up company developing a non-occlusive stent-graft molding balloon catheter where he had an integral position in device development, regulatory strategy and design verification and validation.

Dr. Gottardi previously worked as Managing Senior Physician at the University Heart Center Freiburg/Bad Krozingen.

In 2026, as new Chief Physician, Dr. Gottardi took over the management of the Clinic for Cardiac, Pulmonary and Vascular Surgery at the Westpfalz Clinic. Dr. Gottardi's main focus is on minimally invasive heart valve procedures, offer video endoscopic thoracic surgery and perform operations on coronary arteries without a heart-lung machine.
